My Dear Miss Ella

Ella has been asking to go to swimming lessons since September. This was the morning of her first swimming lesson as she tried to put on her swimsuit herself. I did not get any pictures of her first lesson as I forgot the camera. It didn't help that Ethan and Ella were in two different pools in two different rooms with lessons at the same time. I will try next week.

This is Ella wearing my Christmas present from Grandpa Glen. Ella was showing me "TOUCHDOWN" in the first picture. I mainly has her do this so she could find her hands. Could she get any cuter?

In other Ella news, she has poked through two more teeth with the total adding up to sixteen teeth. When did she get so big. I also wanted to note when Ella says "puppy dog" it actually comes out "pucky bog." It's adorable and I love it!

I am terrible at taking pictures on Christmas morning. I only captured a few moments. Ethan asked Santa for rubber bands. Why? I do not know and he hasn't asked for or touched them since he opened them. The kids received maracas too. Ella very much enjoyed them. Tim and I have been trying to get the kids into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as of late. I have an old VHS or two of the original cartoon series. The kids were so excited, as was Tim opening this gem of a gift. Not pictured but also included was the 4 TMNT movie set. We will be enjoying that soon. We were all exhausted after opening presents, even after many breaks, but it was a wonderful morning!

I have been thinking about how thankful I am for all the things I take for granted everyday. Seemingly simple things like walking, healthy children, having enough food to eat, a warm place to lay my head, loving family and friends and so much more. I have been writing down some of the funny things my children have been saying in the last couple of days, as Ethan and Ella will not be this young forever. Here is some comedic relief and just one more thing to be thankful for on your Thursday afternoon:

Me: "E, whatcha drawing?"
E: "Just some thing really big and cool."

Out of no where at Target:
e: "Mommy, have another baby."
WHAT?!?!? Where did she hear that? And if she didn't hear that, how was she able to put that thought together and then find the correct words to execute that sentence correctly? Wow girl. Wow. (And no, this is not an announcement of any kind. I am not with child) Gotta love that little girl!

One morning I woke up to Ethan gently brushing my hair out of my face as I slept. I do this to him at the very least every night before he goes to sleep. Then he whispered "Good morning Mommy" in my ear. I love my Mamma's boy!

E while sitting at the table coloring: "Mommy, how are you?" How many times do we say this everyday? Ethan waited until I gave him an answer. Fine, was not good enough. He really wanted to know how I was. What a sweetheart.

I hope this puts a smile on your face as we approach Thanksgiving and all we are thankful for in our lives.

Ethan is all dressed and ready to go to school. Today is his first day of big boy underwear. It was a big day!

This is Ethan's classroom. HE was so excited until I left. He cried as I walked out the door. When I returned, he was acting like a lion. He had just wet his pants about 2 minutes before I got there. While he was at school, he was able to color with markers, play outside on the playground, sit in circle time, and sing songs. He loved it and can't wait to go back next week.

Camping With Grandma and Grandpa Boyd at Itasca State Park. What a great weekend. Great weather, great family and a great time! Canoes, pontoon boats, bikes, fires, candy, walks, fishing, candles,wonderful food and family. What more could we ask for?!?

Lily's new house. Too bad I didn't get anymore pictures, I was chasing my kids around and helping to move. Great day and by far the easiest moving experience I've ever had.

Rally day at church, with a Fair Theme. What a fabulous idea. The kids ate cheese curds, popcorn, tatar tots, and snow cones. We also had their hair colored. We missed the face painting, but loved the singing and making new friends!

This was the last day of 90 degree days, in essence our last day of summer. We enjoyed it with Popsicles outside and playing with friends. It's a good thing it was warm, because the kids needed to be hosed off afterwards. Also why Ella is only sporting a diaper.

This is one of our favorite pass times at our homes. Jumping on the mattress. As we are still in renovations in our basement, this was the best storage place for the mattress. The kids couldn't be happier.

Remember Ella is only 17 months old today. Some kids her age are still learning how to walk. Most kids this are do not have any idea how to jump either. Enjoy!

We have had so many fun times this summer. Most of the time I leave the camera at home, in the diaper bag or with a dead battery. We have been swimming, running through sprinklers, playing at the splash pad, camping, climbing at play grounds, and hanging with friends and family. What a great time we have had so far this summer. Hopefully I will remember to use the camera on our up and coming adventures!

Doctor Updates!

Ethan and Ella had a doctors appointment today and are both doing well. Ethan had his first eye exam and he wanted nothing to do with it. They said with what he did he has 20/25 vision. If he actually tried I have no idea what it would be. He also did a hearing test and had the same amount of interest in that too. Ethan now weighs 28 pounds (25%), his height is 37 1/2 inches (50%). His blood pressure is 108 over 58 (who knew they did this for 3 year olds?!?) and his BMI is 14.1 Ethan also had to get some medicine in his leg today. He was not so fond of his shot. Ethan had a very rough day today, just too much going on with too little sleep and not recognizing he needed to eat more. Tomorrow is another day. :)

Ella was awesome at the doctors office! She listened well and did all the things the doctor asked her to do. Ella is in great health. She is 21 pounds (25%) the same she weighed at her 12 month appointment. Ella is a big eater but she also plays really hard. The doctor is not worried all as she watched Ella play and climb all over the room. She is 31 1/2 inches tall (80%) and her head is 18 inches (49%). Finally, her head is catching up to the rest of her body. Ella had 3 shots on her little legs today, but only cried for about 30 seconds before she was distracted by the butterflies hanging from the ceiling. Yea big girl!

Busy Times at the Krueger's

Lots of things have been going on at our home this past week. Thank goodness all of them have been wonderful. We put up two new swings in our yard and the kids couldn't be happier. Now we have 3 swings to choose from and one Mommy and Daddy can use too. After renting a power washer, we have cleaned everything possible outside with it. Those things are fun :) We have planted a garden full of vegetables I am trying hard to keep up with this year. Those 5 foot thistles in the raspberries are just a hoot(insert sarcasm here).

Ella has two new teeth. The first popped through on Monday, June 13 and the second on Wednesday, June 14. She is now up to 9 teeth total. Ella has many new words including cookie, Brick-o(Briscoe), mine, Moweeee(Molly), pease(please), peas, Eeeeee(Ethan) and chise(cheese).

Ethan went to the dentist for the first official check-up today. The first time he went to see the dentist, he had lost a tooth in a tricycle accident. Ethan was a little apprehensive, but I told him he could wear Spider man and he was cool. Overall he did a great job. He was even able to bring home a blue tooth brush and a sucker. Ethan has also been a great helper and just an overall sweetheart. Lots of random hugs and kisses for all, including his sister.

Monday and Tuesday, Lily played with us all day and the kids were able to go to Lily's Wednesday night to play too. Tim and I went to the Twins game that night and finally got to see them win in person this year. Thank goodness. Allison and I went on the Bridesmaid Pub Crawl for Operation Glass Slipper. This organization helps to provide dresses and accessories for prom to those who could not otherwise afford to go. All you need is an old bridesmaid dress and a wristband. What could be more fun?

Ryan Shannon's family hopes he's remembered for so much more than the window-washing accident that took his life at 25.

Bob Shannon wants his son remembered as much more than a window washer killed in a tragic accident.

Ryan J. Shannon, 25, of Roseville, was identified Sunday as the man who died Friday when he fell from the roof of a St. Louis Park apartment building, where he was working with a window-washing crew.

Shannon's energy and passion for music were his defining traits, his father said Sunday. He recalled what happened when the family bought Ryan an electric guitar when he was 12. "A big light went on," he said.

Ryan learned to play it, along with drums, banjo and piano.

Ryan Shannon grew up in Roseville and graduated from Roseville Area High School in 2004. He'd recently earned a two-year degree/certification from the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

In addition to working as a window washer, he was an admissions counselor for Record Now, a recording arts school in Falcon Heights.

Shannon's latest project was a band formed with friends last year called the Wize Bison.

His older brother, Bobby Shannon, lead singer for Wize Bison, said the band mostly did rock covers, but Ryan had started to write original songs. "He was a big rocker -- he had so much energy, so much spirit," his brother said.

Both as a child and an adult, Ryan Shannon also loved to play soccer, his family said.

To earn extra money, he'd been cleaning windows with the Squeegee Squad for about a year, his father said, adding, "Window washing was just something that he did to make a few bucks in between his music."

At 2 p.m. Friday, Ryan fell from the roof of the eight-story Knollwood Place Apartments in St. Louis Park. The Hennepin County medical examiner ruled his death an accident. An investigation continues.

Joe Antonello, owner of Twin Cities Squeegee Squad franchises, said in an e-mail Sunday, "We are deeply saddened by Friday's tragic accident," calling Shannon a "highly esteemed" employee.

Services are tentatively set for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Church of Little Canada, with visitation to be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Roseville Memorial Chapel.

Shannon is not the only Twin Cities area resident to die in such an accident in recent times. In September 2009, Bryan Prairie of Plymouth fell to his death at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. Six months earlier, Jacob Jennings, 20, of Coon Rapids, fell to his death while working as a window washer in Bloomington.

Shortly after they informed us that we could leave the building, but to stay clear of the Northern Trail. It was only after we left did we know that the wolf was loose and that he was killed. So sad. Janelle and her mom suspected it was the wolf as they were just inside the wolf building and something looked a little odd.

This was the third time we visited the tigers while at the zoo. As some of you know Ethan likes to be a lion which quickly turned into a tiger. Ella does the growl now too. What goofballs!

Zoo Tractor Riding

Both Ethan and Ella loved "driving" the zoo's tractor at the farm. Ella especially threw a fit when I took her off the tractor. Guess we will be going there each and every time we visit the zoo!
