Ethan Robert is one month old today!

Ethan has been around for a month now and it has been wonderful.  He is a good sleeper thank goodness!! Last night he only got up once at around 3 am.  The next time he woke up was around 6:30am.  I could have got up then, but I decided to stay in bed. Ethan is growing so fast and it may be hard to see in pictures, but he is heavier; around 9 pounds now and seems even longer/taller too.  He is trying to hold his head up and longer each time and is getting better at it every day.  We've also seen some smiles and it is not gas!  Oh, it will melt your heart, at least it did to me!!  Ethan also loves to look at himself in the mirror.  He was smiling at himself at Grandma Dinky and Grandpa Boyd's house the other day.  I went out the next day and bought a mirror for him to play with at our house.  We'll he finally fell asleep and I have some time to do some things for me so off I go!

Grandpa Rick singing to Ethan.

Words by Grandpa Rick, sung to the tune Country Roads, by John Denver

Ethan's Song

Sent from heaven, Little Ethan
Your name means strong one
Child of God and man
Our life is full now
Filled with joys and fears
Our prayers and dreams go with you
Travelin' through the years

Little man, we've just begun
To turn your life into a poem
Ethan Robert, momma, papa
Little man, your heart is home

Friends and family dancin' round you
Watching, teaching, growing in our love
Rain or sunshine painted on the sky
We'll be there through tear drops
And laughter in your eyes

Little man, join the game
Grow in strength. Prove your name
Ethan Robert, grandma, grandpa
Little man, your heart is home

You'll walk and skip on roads so many paved before you
Carving pathways of your own along the way
You'll feel sunshine on the fields
And long to be a part of each arising day... each fresh new day

Little man, write your song
It's your world, too.  We'll sing along
Ethan Robert, aunts and uncles
Little man, your heart is home

We've heard your voice, 'cross the years it has been callin'
Your smile reminds us of a love that's here to stay
And as we let go of your hand
We'll have the feelin' that it always had to be this way... you're on your way

Little man, run your race
Learn to take and share God's grace
Ethan Robert, friends and family
Little man, your heart is home

Great Grandma Marvin and Baby Ethan.

Ethan and his Great Grandma Marvin.  Lily wanted to hold Ethan again and was asking Great grandma if she could hold him.

Lily was so excited to hold Ethan!  She whispered "I love you Ethan" many times as well as "I will save you."  We are not sure what that was about, but it was sure cute.

I couldn't resist this yawn!

First trip to Grandma Dinky and Grandpa Boyd's

Ethan and I were able to stay overnight at Grandma and Grandpa's on Wednesday night.  It's just too bad our basement had to flood for it to happen.  Daddy stayed back to clean up the big mess and sent us on our way.  While we were there, a milestone occurred; Ethan lost his umbilical cord and now has a real belly button. Later, we went to visit Grandma Dinky at her work and she had lots of fun showing off her grandson to her coworkers.  Everyone said Ethan was very handsome and I agree.  (I am entitled to be a little biased!)  After, we visited Mommy's old Subway and Cousin Brian at his office for Mommy's appointments and then returned to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner.  After a trip to Target, Ethan and I were exhausted.  We got the OK from Daddy to return home and we went straight to bed.  It was a long but fun day!
